NEW YORK (AP) -- We now have a title for Book VII: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

Rowling's U.S. publisher, Scholastic Inc., released a brief statement Thursday announcing the name of the world's most anticipated children's book, the
finale to her phenomenally popular fantasy series.

No publication date or other details were offered. Rowling is still working on the book, she explained on her Web site in an entry posted early Thursday.

"I'm now writing scenes that have been planned, in some cases, for a dozen years or even more," she wrote. "I don't think anyone who has not been in a similar
situation can possibly know how this feels: I am alternately elated and overwrought. I both want, and don't want, to finish this book (don't worry, I will.)"

Rowling said she has been asked for years if she ever dreams she is in the boy wizard's world.

"The answer was 'no' until a few nights ago, when I had an epic dream in which I was, simultaneously, Harry and the narrator," she wrote.

"Perhaps I should cut back on the caffeine?" she joked.

Rowling also said she saw a 20-minute preview of the fifth Harry Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," which she said "looks fantastic."
The latest movie in the blockbuster series will be released in July.

Meanwhile, she set up a test for her Potter fans if they want to find the title for themselves.

If you go to her
home page
external link, click on the eraser and you will be taken to a room -- you'll see a window, a door and a mirror.

In the mirror, you'll see a hallway. Click on the farthest doorknob and look for the Christmas tree. They click on the center of the door next to the mirror
and a wreath appears. Then click on the top of the mirror and you'll see a garland.

Look for a cobweb next to the door. Click on it, and it will disappear. Now, look at the chimes in the window. Click on the second chime to the right, and
hold it down. The chime will turn into the key, which opens the door. Click on the wrapped gift behind the door, then click on it again and figure out
the title yourself by playing a game of hangman.

Or you can just take Scholastic's word for it.

The Harry Potter books have sold more than 300 million copies and have been translated into 63 languages.

Reprise I'm now stealing scenes from Tolkien ect, that have previously not been used, due to fear of being sued.

Any Idea on who will die besides Snake Face himself?

Post 7 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Friday, 16-Feb-2007 14:29:53

Hopefully Snape, but I hope none of the star characters die.

If Harry dies, I along with many others, will be very upset.

I really hope that harry doesn't die, but unfortunately its possible that harry himself is the last horcrux. Lets see, nagini, grifindors cup, hmmmmmmm... I can't remember the rest of them, but its possible 1 is harry since he was the last person that voldimort tried to kill. It may have been unintentional, but its possible.

keeping my fingers crossed

Hmm, I'm not sure who will die, but it would make some sense to me if Harry were to die, because then maybe it could really be over then. I hope not, though, but we'll all just have to read the book and see.

Harry can't be the last horcrux because Voldemort can't possess him. Did you forget what Dumbledore told Harry about why the Dark Lord wants to do away with him and can't? Harry has a protection that Voldemort can't touch or break through. if he even tries, he gets hurt and is in considerable pain. In order for Voldemort to partly possess Harry he has to be immune to the power of love and he just can't stand to be in such close proximity to those those feelings. Just my two cents.

but now, Voldimort has harry's blood in him, from book 4, so he can touch him now.

There's the book, the ring, the locket they found when cleaning serious's house in book 5, maybe huffelpuff's cup, maybe something of ravenclaw's, and either the snake, or something of gryffindore's, though that is unlikely.

I doubt Harry will die, that'd be too cliche' of Rowling. And Snape is good, I know, I posted my reasoning on another board.

We'll know in another six weeks and one day.

well there'll have to be a few wiped out so that no other author can continue the series in x amount of years.

hmm, i hope Harry doesn't end up dying; it's possible and i remember reading that J K Rowling thought people might not like the ending.
i still think Snape is good; i'm pretty sure dumbledore told him to go through with the unbreakable vow; i'm rereading the books before the last one; i both can't wait and can. lol i don't know if that made sense

Post 18 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 13-Jun-2007 22:14:03

Right, well, I don't much care what the remaining horcruxes are or aren't, and I don't care whether Snape is good or evil, but I really want Harry to die. I am a Harry Potter fan to the point of sad nerdiness, but I disagree with Cala on that bit. I think it'd be horribly cliche if Harry defeated Voldemort and lived. That's what always happens in such books with battles of good and evil. For once I want to see the hero die in the attempt to kill the villain. I want Voldemort to die as well, because otherwise it'd be stupid, but I hope Harry dies with him. I'd like it if he turned out to be the final horcrux and that's what he had to do to destroy Voldemort. Honestly, I'm not that attached to any of the trio, so any of them could die and I wouldn't care.

do any of you remember the profisy? I think from Harry's point of view, that it ment if one dies the other does as well. We'll just have to wait and see

Post 20 by ItsAConspiraZ (This site is so "educational") on Sunday, 17-Jun-2007 11:23:02

You have it backwards. "neither can't live while the other survives," meaning that once one dies the other can live; one or the other has to die sooner or later.

The love charm only worked after the kill curse was put on Harry, so maybe Voldimort wormed his way in before then. After all, Harry did see through the snake's eyes at one point (while Voldimort was possessing her).

So, another topic about HP, Huh? What do you all think of the names? Some of them shocks me, they almost sound foreign, such as Lorcan. Lol! That's such a name Luna would name her child. Wonder why rolf Scammander chose to marry her. She's Luny anyways.
